“Colourlife” shows how
vivid colours are used to draw attention.
Their use is found in the natural world, such as colourful flowers, or
in the man-made world for objects or buildings. In the latter, colour is often used for
commercial purposes. “Colourlife” is also a
play on words. It is interesting to note how frequently objects depicting
living items (plants, animals and people) use altered
and heightened colour states to achieve the desired effects. In the current context of a photographic
essay, and with a sense of irony, “Colourlife” was
the name of a paper for printing which gave good fade resistance. Alas, it is not used for the current
photographs. All of the photographs were taken
with digital cameras and printed digitally.
